Love this!!

I keep seeing this and I love it more every time I read it!! Take notes men!!

Women Over 40.......
In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Here's an update for you................

Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Andy Rooney is a very intelligent man!

Being an adult SUCKS (sometimes)

Being an adult can be hard.
There are major perks to being an adult.
We can buy alcohol and drink it whenever we want.
We can have sex pretty much whenever we want.
We can stay up as late as we want. We can sleep as late as we want.
We don't have to make our beds if we don't want to.
We can be messy. I personally get undressed pretty much anywhere and everywhere in my house.  There is always a random pile of clothes in the hallway or living room.
I can have popcorn, wine and waffles for dinner.
So, the perks are everything every kid dreams of.
The sucky parts especially when owning a home are the endless list of repairs and to do lists.
And then there are the BILLS!!
My ass is currently being kicked by property taxes.
I owe $4,530.00 in property taxes and they tack on penalties if not paid all in one HUGE lump sum.
Who the fuck has $4,500 just hanging out waiting to be spent?
I dont. I run a small business. Which is growing daily but I don't have a spare $4,500.
It is frustrating. I wanted to start a GoFundMe account and ask EVERYONE for $5.00.
I didn't do that. Who the hell would donate? They don't give a shit if I have property taxes to pay.
So, I resorted to borrowing small amounts from friends. Even that is/was a HUGE challenge.
I pride myself on helping people when they need help. There were people that I know VERY well and I asked for as little $50 and they couldn't be bothered to even reply to my messages.
All they had to say was "Hey, I can't help right now." TOTALLY understand.
There are a lot of friends that came thru with FLYING colors. I am still $1,500 short but SLOWLY getting there... Yes, I will have to pay the penalty so I am probably closer to $2,000 short.... BUT whatever details.
It SUCKS being an adult.
So, don't be in a hurry to grow up.
Stay at home and live bill free as long as possible.
You can sneak around for the alcohol and the sex. Might be worth the hassle to not have to worry about bills.

HAPPINESS JARS

I found this post on Facebook last year... reposted it.... Found it again this year and reposted it!!

I started my happiness jar IMMEDIATELY!!
Read about it! Perhaps start one of your own!

Here is the post from Elizabeth Gilbert originally posted 2015:
HAPPINESS JARS!
Dear Ones -
Here it is the end of the year, and I thought it might be a good time to re-introduce to you all the concept of a Happiness Jar.
Here's me with mine!
What is a Happiness Jar? The simplest thing in the world. You get yourself a jar (or a box, or a vessel of any kind) and every day, at the end of the day, you grab a slip of paper and write down on it the happiest moment of the day.
Even on lousy days, you do this. Because even on lousy days, there is one best moment (or at least, one least-worst moment.)
You stick that little piece of paper in the jar.
Over the years, you have a record of your happiness.
On bad days, I will thrust my fist in that jar and go fishing — pulling up a handful of great moments that I would have utterly forgotten, had I not documented them.
I've been doing this practice for years, and I love it.
If my house ever caught on fire, this would be the one material object I would grab before I ran out the door...because what's inside this jar? THAT'S WHERE IT'S AT — the whole point of this life.
Over the years, my Happiness Jar has taught me much. What continually amazes me is what ends up on the slip of paper every day. Not awesome events, not huge achievements — usually just a small and tiny thing, a moment of awareness...that moment when you step outside and between the house and the car you get hit on the top of the head with a beam of sunlight, and suddenly feel awash with gratitude simply for being alive, and you think, "Yes. This is it."
It's usually something that small — and something that grand.
I know that many of you have started this practice, too — and I love seeing the pictures of your jars, and hearing how you have adapted this to your own lives. I love the woman who put one in the middle of her dining room table, and she and her kids each put an entry in there every day — what a cool family practice! And I love the woman who wrote to me last week saying that she had the hardest year of her life, but she kept her Happiness Jar practice going the whole time, and today — on the last day of the year, she's going to pull out each piece of paper in the jar, to remind her that even now, even in hard times, there was always one good moment a day.
So if anyone wants to begin this practice tomorrow, a New Year is always a great place to start!
Sending love, and, of course, wishing you all an abundance of Happy Moments in 2015!
ONWARD,
Liz Gilbert

Christmas!

Christmas is making me sad this year.
I can't seem to put my finger on why.
It seems like time is flying by too fast. I miss being a little kid when the holidays seemed to last forever.  My parents had Christmas parties. I want to have Christmas parties.
I want to go shopping and get my picture taken with Santa. Yes, I am still that nerdy.
I feel like no one takes time to ENJOY the Christmas season any more.
Its just RUSH RUSH RUSH RUSH.... SPEND SPEND SPEND SPEND....
I want to sit and watch White Christmas and Christmas Vacation and any other Christmas movie with my family and friends.
I have done a little of it this year but not as much I have wanted.
I made a couple of batches of homemade jam from my Grandma's recipe and sent it out.
But, I don't know if anyone appreciates homemade treats anymore.
I have about 200 people on my Christmas card list. So, far I have received LESS than 20 cards.
That is making me sad too. I do too much with my cards. I do a card, I add a photo, I write a note and I address the envelope.
I need to start pre-printing EVERYTHING then maybe it won't seem like such a chore to get these out. I am such a stubborn person I know I will NEVER take a short cut on my cards. I like the handwritten notes. Someone appreciates a handwritten note, I know they do.
I am trying to get out of my Christmas FUNK. I will be sitting on my couch tonight with just the Christmas lights on and watch a White Christmas. I know it will make me feel better.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Neyland Stadium

Saturday night I went to a football game at Neyland Stadium. Home of the Tennessee Volunteers.
First of all "VFL" is the dumbest thing I have ever heard anyone yell at a football game. VFL stands for Vol For Life. (🙄 so stupid!) and they yell it CONSTANTLY!

Secondly, they like to make fun of the visiting fans as they cheer for their team.
I had the pleasure of glaring at a particular gentleman. I had to say a few choice words to him as well. Don't make fun of me. Or my team. And please refrain from calling anyone associated with my team a name. I will cuss you out and I did.

The best part of my adventure on Saturday included making sure my friend Cedric's mom made it the game safe and sound. Cedric is on the coaching staff at Vanderbilt.

We had too much fun! Josephine Calhoun was a blast. We talked non stop!! It's like we had been friends for years.
And she lives less than 10 minutes from me in Texas! What are the chances? Good people.

TOO much orange... And if I never hear Rocky Top again it will be too soon.

The score was not what I had hoped it would be when I walked into Neyland.
The refs didn't help. But I was just a bad game. Sometimes, they just happen.

Well, now we have 274 short days until a new Vanderbilt football season begins!!

Dear Santa

Hey Santa
Can you get one of these Peyton Manning ornaments for me for Christmas? Pretty please??
I wasn't fast enough last year to get one from Hallmark!!
I have been a very good girl.
Ok well maybe a little naughty but I have been very nice, sweet and thoughtful that has to count for something!! 🎄🎁

Too soon?

Is it too soon start counting down to next years football season? Is it too soon start planning what games I want to go to?
It's black Sunday. Tomorrow is the most brutal day in college football. Coaches will be fired right and left. It will be interesting to see where everyone lands.
Hoping that the friends who are in limbo land at a great school.
And in case you were wondering....

Frustrations of an overly tired football fan

It's no secret that I tend to be a tiny bit passionate about football. Today I'm passionately pissed.
I attended a football game last night that left me feeling pissed off, frustrated and disgusted with the state of college football. Now granted I am writing this on less than 3 hours sleep. I'm stuck at the airport and can't get out so needless to say my attitude might need a bit of an adjustment. BUT I'm going to rant anyway because I can. And I don't have enough followers to worry about pissing anyone off.
First off the visiting team was classless and very rude. Which not something I would have expected from this team and this particular head coach.
The players talked trash the entire game to the fans in the stands.
I tend to hold grudges against teams that beat the teams I am cheering for.
I am officially holding a grudge against this team. I can not stand that type of behavior from football players.
Perhaps I will compose a letter to that head coach as well. He is classier than what his players portrayed last night. Or so I thought.

Second, the unbelievably bad calls by the officiating crew killed any momentum.  We had some offensive issues. But seriously the coaches have to game plan against a team and the officials?
Yes, I have seriously composed a letter to the SEC commissioner about the officiating crew.

If I am this frustrated as a fan how frustrated are the football coaches?
How frustrated is the team?
How does a head coach not blow up and start throwing down? I was ready to jump that fence and take out an official and an opposing player or two.
I have never seen such blatant and biased bullshit calls in my life.
Oh wait....
Yes, I have! This same crew doing the same home team game about a month ago.
SO FUCKING STUPID!
*AAARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH*
How do these people continue to screw up at their ONE & ONLY job and still have a job?
If the average person messed up as much as these officials they would be unemployed.
The officials need to be revamped and perhaps they need to become non conference specific.
I will keep you posted on Greg Sankey's response.
I'm sure I will get immediate action and response. (Yes, that is written in sarcastic font).

Side note: 2 opposing team fans are sitting next to me and we are discussing the game. They were highly impressed with our defense. They were as disgusted with the officials as much as me.
They are slowly chipping away chipping away at that grudge. Maybe.

Sorry for the multitude of grammatical mistakes. But whatever I'm pissed. And tired.

Friends who love you...

Disclaimer .... I'm not a writer so this will be full of errors. I write like I talk. All over the place and in run-on sentences.
Enjoy!

Friends are family we pick for ourselves.
I have picked a fantastic family of friends throughout my life.
Most of the friends in my life have been here for 12+ years. Some longer. Very few shorter than that.
When you connect with a person on a level where you can talk about anything and everything it is wonderful.
When you can be yourself and be a dork and they still love you unconditionally it is a great thing.
I can't say I have a buttload of friends like that. But the ones I have are amazing.
I have a bunch of acquaintances.
But true friends that I could call at the drop of a hat and they would do anything and everything for me. Those are my favorite friends.
I love those friends with every fiber of my being.

One of those friends likes to give me a talking to every 6 months or so about being single.
He seems to think that I need to find someone to keep me company.
He thinks I need to start looking for someone. It's not that I'm not looking.   I am just very happy where I am.
I enjoy my independence. I like being able to do what I want whenever I want.
He doesn't want me to end up alone.
The fact that he even cares enough to say something makes my heart smile.
But it also makes me sad.
Makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong in life.
I don't believe I will end up alone.
I believe I will end up with one of my current friends. I don't know which one. But I think at some point I will end up with a friend who we just start hanging out with. We like to spend time together. We like to do the same things. We travel together. Maybe it will eventually cross over into something more. Maybe it will become sexual. Maybe it will become a full-blown relationship. Or maybe we'll just be best friends from now until the end of time. I'm fine with whatever way it works out.
I don't need (don't even think I want) to get married to feel like my life is complete. I clearly don't need to have kids to feel like my life is complete. I can be cool Aunt Kate to all my friend's kids.
My life feels really good right now.
Most of my family drives me crazy. Isn't that their job?
I have these fantastic friends who love me as unconditionally as I love them.
I have a very satisfying sex life.
I have a growing business that allows me to do so many cool projects. And keeps me busy but is as flexible as I want it to be.
I have the ability to travel freely about the country for very little money.
My life pretty much ROCKS!

So, to my precious and wonderful friend... I hear YOU!
I know what you are saying.
I know you think I'm stubborn and didn't listen. But I took every word to heart.
I love you and cherish you for being a good and true friend.
Thank you for loving me and caring about me enough to say something.
You are the BEST!!!
You are correct we are all broken but we are great people. Also, we deserve to have great people in our lives.
Thank you for always making time for me!!
XOXOXOXO

Home Ownership

Today I am shopping for a new hot water heater!
YAY exciting!! Said no one EVER!!
Owning a home is GREAT if you have a lot of shit - you have plenty of room for that shit.
Owning a home is great because you don't have upstairs neighbors who do the dance of the baby elephants everyday.
Owning a home sucks because there is ALWAYS something that needs to be fixed or updated.
There is ALWAYS a project to work on.
I clearly just need to get married so I have a built in handy man or a second income to afford a handy man.
I also need that man to put up Christmas lights. Rake and bag the leaves (cause I am afraid of the stupid snakes I always encounter when I do this task).
So, I guess I need to win the lottery. Or find a sugar daddy. Or marry someone for convince. Preferably someone who travels a lot and stays out of my way. I really ENJOY my freedom and independence.
Until one of those happens I will continue to work my ass off doing stuff I love to take care of the house I love.

College football

As you know I love love love college football. Some weekends I feel like the biggest jinx. I feel like every team I am rooting for loses. And it's a kick in the nuts... if I had nuts.
Not everyone I was rooting for lost. But every game I paid attention to and emotionally invested in. Lost. :'-(
I'm sorry if I am the jinx. I feel like football shouldn't hate me this much.
I love football unconditionally and it continues to break my heart.
Ah to be a fan. Next week. It will be a weekend of wins all around. (Fingers crossed)

Rob Baird

I fell in love with this mans voice July 2012....
Can not wait for his new album to come out!
If you have a chance to see him live DO IT!!!

Love these acoustic videos he has been putting up.

A new song:

An old song:

ENJOY!!

Long time no blog....

So, I was told recently I need to start blogging.
I miss it. I have a lot going on. I have an opinion that no one really cares about but its always fun to share, just ask all the anonymous assholes who troll and leave rude opinionated comments.
Do I need to reintroduce myself?
I am Kate.
I love my wiener dog Coach Landry.
I used to go to Starbucks EVERY day. Now I brew Starbucks at home. (my step mom spent a week with me and bought coffee maker- LIFE CHANGING).
I love love love football. College ball is currently my OBSESSION. The NFL has grown tedious and tired for me. BUT I still watch my favorite players.
I drink more wine than I used to. It is YUMMY!
I blog like I talk. In short bursts or long run on sentences. I suck at grammar. and math. There will be NO math in this blog. But can someone explain why they have started teaching common core math? WHAT IN THE FUCK WAS WRONG WITH OLD MATH? The new shit??? UMMMM NO THANK YOU!!
I still live in Texas.
I finally bought myself a camera. I like to take pics of pets and football stadiums.
I still refinish furniture.
I have been traveling a TON to football games (see next blog on who I am cheering for and why).
I will try to be fairly regular on the blog thing.
WARNING I am getting older and losing what little filter I had left!!
Congrats to CLEMSON, LSU, alabama, and ohio state on the FIRST ranking of the college play off poll.
You can tell who I like if they care capitalized or not....
Hoping LSU beats bama.
Hope my Golden Gophers beat the living shit out of ohio state this weekend as well.
Happy Football Season!
XOXO
Kate

Life Lessons ..

Life Lesson for all the 20 somethings out there.
For some reason I have a ton of you in my life. I must be in your life to teach you something so I will do my best to teach you everything I know.
Maybe you can skip all the bullshit I had to muddle thru.
And thank you all for keeping me young... I don't feel my age... I feel about 28!

You need to figure out who you are and be comfortable with YOU!
As I get older I realize that I am more comfortable being ME.
I am loud.
I am passionate.
I am fun.
I am creative.
I am silly.
I am intriguing.
I am carefree.
I am honest.
I am fiercely loyal.
I am genuine.
I am sweet.
I am friendly.
I am strong.
I do not bullshit.
I mean what I say.
I say what I mean.
If I like you and call you friend you have a friend for life.
I think my big, loud personality scares people sometimes.
I think people think I'm weird because I clap like a 3 year old on Christmas morning when I see something I like.
I think people think I am crazy for yelling at tv screens in bars while football games are on.
I think people think I am weird for cheering loudly for a band when I am only one of 5 people in the room.
I don't care what any of those people think!

The older I get the happier I am.
It takes a long time to be comfortable in your own skin and not worry what others think.
Once you get to the point where you are totally and completely happy with you life gets even better.
So, to all the young ones out there.
Sorry if my big, loud, passionate, honest, silly personality scares you.
I promise you this is totally and 100% me.
You may think I have an ulterior motive I do not.
I just think you are as much fun as I am.
Fun people need to stick together to make the rest of the world a little more fun!

Life is short. Make the most of it. Enjoy the ride!
XOXOXOXO
Kate

FRIENDS!

Do you remember being a kid where you would meet other kids and were instantly friends?
I seriously miss that. I run into some really cool people every now and then.
I wish I could just say to them "Hey you are fun. I like you! Lets be friends!"
Why isn't that acceptable anymore?
Just something that has been on my mind lately.
I want the simplicity of childhood again.

Penn State

I am totally and completely overwhelmed by all the heinous acts going on in this world.

When I first heard about the Sandusky allegations and Joe Pa I seriously thought that Joe Pa was just of that age/generation where he could not comprehend what was actually going on with Sandusky.
I am totally and completely DISGUSTED with Joe Pa and EVERY OTHER person who knew about the abuse and let it go! UNACCEPTABLE!

PSU should have gotten the death penalty!

Let the coaches out of their contracts. Let the players transfer. KILL THE PROGRAM!
I love love love football and I am saying that college no longer deserves the privilege of fielding a football team. You had a successful team for YEARS! You sacrificed the well being of children. You let a sick fuck into your program and you let him continue to use your facilities AFTER you found out what he was doing.

PSU should have gotten the death penalty!!

PSU covered up sexual abuse! SEXUAL ABUSE OF  CHILDREN! Who the fuck does that? Who in the fuck does that while they are in a position where they are responsible for so many young lives?
I am beyond words with this situation.

PSU should have gotten the death penalty!!!

SMU got the death penalty for paying players to play football.
SMU wanted to WIN so they bought the talent.
SMU did not harm children.
SMU did not let someone sexually abuse children.
SMU gave talented athletes from no money lots and lots of money to play football.
SMU should have been banned from bowl games and lost scholarships for their repeat offenses but they did not deserve the death penalty.

PSU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE DEATH PENALTY!!

Dear Joe Pa,
I respected you.
I looked up to you.
I cheered for you.
I was in awe of you and your career.
I am disgusted that you let this happen.
I am disgusted that you protected something so heinous.
I don't know how you lived with yourself KNOWING that was going on in your football program!
I know God forgives all. BUT....
I hope HE put you in your place and let you know how he felt about your actions or lack there of.
I hope HE made you feel the pain that the victims felt!
I am happy you were stripped of wins and titles.
I am sorry your players accomplishments were tarnished by your lack of respect for human life.

PSU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE DEATH PENALTY!

Football Season

As you all know I am IN LOVE WITH FOOTBALL!
We are 42 days away from NCAA football and 46 days away from NFL!! I am BEYOND excited!!
I am hoping to attend a FEW (more than 2) games this year! Fingers crossed it all works out!
I will be better about blogging this fall.
Life is moving right along.
It is CRAZY busy.

Anyhwo have a GREAT weekend!
Say a prayer for all involved in the heinous Colorado movie theater shooting.
Hug your family & friends and tell people you LOVE THEM!
XOXOXOOXOXOXOXOXOXO
